Identity is almost never just a puzzle. It is a mosaic of completely different parts that are connected and together make one person. So it is really hard for me to choose the parts to describe myself. My name is Jasmina, I write poetry, my favorite color is blue and my biggest dream is to live in a peaceful and prosperous Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Some battles can never be completely won, but that is no reason to stop our fight - the fight for peace, freedom, human rights and love, and our greatest strength are young people across the country. We have so many young talents: in sports, science, art, music, and all of these are opportunities for the promotion of peace building and the unification of all young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I am a fourth-year student of International Relations at the International University in Sarajevo and I see my future career in contributing to the development of peace and security in BiH, along with the implementation of human rights and beliefs. I firmly believe that our peoples are ready to enter the process of healing and reconstructng society, and one of the best ways to do this is through open dialogue. I want to stay here – running away is an easier option, but it is not the best for me. Most of us could contribute so much with our own strengths and talents: some with song, others with scientific discoveries, and still others simply with love for our green rivers and mountains.

That is why, I am determined that my future career steps will involve interacting and working with young people. Learning and sharing experiences is an endless process, especially in a multi-ethnic society like Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is why, I am very excited about my engagement in the United Nations. Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a post-conflict society, should become more involved in this area, and I am really glad that the United Nations is taking care of this issue, which is not sufficiently treated by the educational system and structure in our country.

The process of building peace is much more complex than it actually seems to people, but it is also much more significant for the recovery of our society. People are made of passion, love, empathy, fears and anger, and all these emotions need a proper and healthy transformation that cannot be taken for granted. Starting from our families and teachers to politicians and the system as a whole. An individual can change everything - for better or for worse. And that is why, our mission, including mine, should be the proper transformation of our society through an open and peaceful dialogue in which future generations will be growing up in a safe and peaceful Bosnia and Herzegovina. Because at the end of the day, that is what really matters. Peace and home.
