arajevo, 2 April 2012 - As a first meeting in a series, a three-day meeting of representatives from the BiH Statistics Agency and Entity Statistics Agencies was held in hotel “Plivsko jezero” in Jajce between 28 and 30 March 2012 and it was supported by UNFPA office in BiH.
 

At this meeting the budget and master plan of activities for Census 2013 in Bosnia and Herzegovina was adopted.

Furthermore, members of the working group discussed the current ICT infrastructure in all three statistical institutions, organization of the activities on the development of the cartography, issues of transport for census materials and provision of maps with marked minefields. 

The next working group meeting is scheduled for last week of April 2012 and on the top of the Agenda it will be refinement on the standardized methodology and master plan of activities for upcoming Census.

Faris Hadrovic, Assistant Representative of UNFPA in BiH stated that UNFPA in BiH is providing technical assistance for census preparation, implementation, advocacy including data dissemination and will continue to support all three statistical agencies in BiH in producing official statistics.

Delegates of the Parliamentary Assembly unanimously adopted Law on Census of Population households and Dwellings in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 1st of February 2012.

BiH Census will be conducted in the period from 1 to 15 April 2013.

Conducting the Census in BiH is crucial for the country to be able to use data to formulate polices and programmes on its EU integration path.
