Background

During the vacant post of SRH Programme Analyst, CO Bosnia and Herzegovina is looking to engage services of an experienced professional to contribute to the effective implementation of UNFPA activities in the areas of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and youth (SRH). S/he analyses and assesses relevant political, social and economic trends and provides substantive inputs to project formulation and evaluation, joint programming initiatives and national development frameworks.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant will be expected to provide support to delivery of SRH and Youth programme components but more specifically:
In collaboration with Government counterparts, NGOs and other partners, provide direct support in implementation of activities in area of Sexual and Reproductive Health in line with Government priorities and according to UNFPA programme policies and procedures.
Analyses and interprets the political, social and economic environment relevant to sexual and reproductive health and youth, and identifies opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention.
Expedites and coordinates project implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies facilitating timely and efficient delivery of project inputs and addressing training needs of project personnel.
Helps create and document knowledge about current and emerging sexual and reproductive health and youth issues, by analysing programme, projects, strategies, approaches and ongoing experience for lessons learned, best practices, and shares with management for use in knowledge sharing and planning future strategies.
Assists advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of Country Office by preparing relevant documentation, i.e. project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and participating in donor meetings and public information events.
In times of increased workload, the consultant may be expected to undertake additional tasks relating to programme implementation.

Required Skills and Experience

He/she should have advanced degree in health and/or other related social science field;
Experience in the field of development and population activities, preferably in programme/ project management;
Previous work experience in UN system would be an advantage;
Interest in the field of development;
Written and spoken proficiency in English and local languages;
Ability to adapt to new environments and to establish and maintain good working relations with individuals of different cultural backgrounds;
Suitable female and male candidates are invited to send a quote for the work as outlined in the Terms of Reference. UNFPA reserves the right to offer to the selected candidate the rate in accordance with UNFPA consultant rates and UNFPA available budget.
Where the contractor fails to deliver the required quality of products, the rate payable will be reduced. UNFPA reserves the right to assess the quality of products. Contractor has obligation to finalize products/documents to the full UNFPA satisfaction.
